Why Nevada agents stay busy

For 2027 coverage, Nevada runs its own exchange, Nevada Health Link, instead of HealthCare.gov. Agents who sell its plans register with Nevada Health Link too. Agents also complete Nevada Health Link's annual certification training.

The median annual wage for insurance sales agents in Nevada was $49,100 in May 2025, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That figure covers every kind of insurance agent and employer in the state, so read it as a picture of the local market, not as pay at My Live Health. Our pay is commission, paid every week.

About 20.9% of Nevada residents speak Spanish at home (Census Bureau ACS 2024 1-year, table C16001).

How to get licensed in Nevada

The Nevada Division of Insurance licenses insurance agents in Nevada. Here is the path to a resident license that covers health insurance, then the steps to sell Medicare and ACA plans.

  1. Resident license

    Get the right license line

In Nevada, the resident license that lets you sell health insurance is Health. The Nevada Division of Insurance issues it.

  2. Not required

    No pre-licensing course required

Nevada does not require a pre-licensing course for this license. You can study on your own and book the exam when you are ready.

  3. Pearson VUE

    Pass the state exam

In Nevada, insurance licensing exams are run by Pearson VUE. You schedule your health line exam with them.

  4. Required

    Get fingerprinted

Nevada requires fingerprints for a background check after you apply: take the emailed authorization form to an approved Nevada fingerprint vendor.

  5. Apply for your license

Apply for your Nevada resident license through Sircon (the Division prefers it) or NIPR. You receive your National Producer Number (NPN), a unique ID that follows you to every state, during the application process.

  6. Every plan year

    Certify for Medicare

To sell Medicare Advantage and Part D plans with us, complete the AHIP Medicare + Fraud, Waste, and Abuse course for the current plan year (AHIP updates it every year), plus each carrier's certification.

  7. Every plan year

Register with CMS for ACA plans

Complete Marketplace registration and training with CMS each plan year through the Marketplace Learning Management System (MLMS). You need this for HealthCare.gov states, which you reach with non-resident licenses. CMS ties Marketplace access to the health line of authority on your resident license, so your Nevada license comes first.

  8. State exchange

    Register with Nevada Health Link

For 2027 coverage, Nevada runs its own exchange, Nevada Health Link, instead of HealthCare.gov. Agents register with Nevada Health Link as well. Agents also complete Nevada Health Link's annual certification training.

  9. Keep your license active

To renew, Nevada requires 30 hours of continuing education each license term, including 3 hours of ethics.

Also good to know in Nevada: You must pass the exam within one year before you apply, and the state license fee is $185.
